ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

PhenomicDB

Alright kiddo, have you ever heard of genes? They are little pieces of information inside your body that tell your cells how to work. Well, phenomicdb is like a big digital library that stores a ton of information about different genes, and how they can affect our health and traits.

Imagine that you have a long list of all the things you're good at, like drawing, running, and playing chess. Now, let's say that we have a bunch of other kids who also have lists of things they're good at. If we put all of those lists together, we could learn a lot about what makes each kid unique.

That's kind of like what phenomicdb does. It collects information from lots of different sources about how different genes affect our bodies and our traits. So if we want to know which genes are responsible for things like height or hair color, we can look it up in phenomicdb.

But just like you have to organize your list of things you're good at, phenomicdb has to organize all of its information so we can actually make sense of it. That way, scientists and doctors can use it to learn more about genetic diseases, and maybe even find new ways to treat them.
