ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Photodisintegration

Photodisintegration is a process when light weakens the bonds between the particles in matter and causes them to split apart. Imagine that your matter is made up of little pieces of Lego, like a really big, complicated Lego house. Photodisintegration is like when you shine a really bright light on the Lego house. The light energy makes the Lego pieces move around, and eventually the pieces separate and fall away.
