Photonically optimized embedded microprocessors are tiny computers that use light to make them faster and more efficient. They use tiny lasers and other optical devices as replacements for traditional wires used for communication between parts of the processor. Light is much faster than electricity, so these processors can do calculations and make decisions much faster.
