ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Physical cosmology

Physical cosmology is the study of the big picture of the universe. It looks at things like where the universe came from, and how it's changing. It studies the structure of the universe and looks at things like the planets and stars, as well as much bigger things, like galaxies and clusters of galaxies. Cosmologists try to understand the history and future of the universe, as well as why it looks the way it does. Cosmologists also study what's inside the universe, like different types of energy and matter, to help explain things like how galaxies are formed.
