Phytoremediation

Phytoremediation is a way of cleaning up the environment that uses plants to remove pollutants. Plants have the natural ability to absorb certain types of pollutants, which makes them very useful in cleaning up the environment. With phytoremediation, plants are planted on or near land that has been polluted with things like oil, chemicals, and metals. The roots of the plants absorb the pollutants and either store them or change them into harmless compounds.
