Oh hey kiddo, today we'll talk about something called Pickering Emulsion.
So, first let's talk about emulsion. Have you ever seen oil and water? They don't like each other, right? Well, when we mix them together, they don't mix well but forms tiny droplets that float or sink. We call these tiny droplets an emulsion.
Now, Pickering Emulsion is a special kind of emulsion. It's named after a guy called Percival Spencer Umfreville Pickering. He figured out that if we add tiny solid particles to oil and water mixture, they stick to the droplets and keep them from clumping together. These tiny particles form a shell around the droplets which keeps them stable.
It's like having a protective bubble around each tiny droplet. These tiny particles are so small that they can't be seen by our eyes but they do a very important job.
Scientists use Pickering Emulsion for lots of different things like making cosmetics, medicines, and even some kinds of food.
So, that's Pickering Emulsion for you, kiddo!
