Pigeon post

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a pigeon? They're birds that you see walking around in the park or flying in the sky. Did you know that people used to use pigeons to send messages to each other a long time ago? This is called pigeon post.

So, let's say that you have a message that you want to send to your friend who lives far away. How would you do it? Well, these days, we can use phones, email or other technology to send messages instantly. But back in the olden days, there were no phones or internet. That's where pigeon post comes in.

People would tie a message to a pigeon's leg and then let the bird fly to where their friend lived. The friend would find the pigeon and read the message. Cool, right?

But how do the pigeons know where to go? Well, that's the clever part. Pigeons are really good at finding their way home. So, if you trained a pigeon to live at your house, it would always try to fly back there no matter where you took it. So, even if you sent a pigeon to a faraway place, it would know how to fly back home.

Of course, pigeon post is not used anymore because we have better ways of communicating now. But it's still fun to learn about how people used to do things in the past.
