Pigmenturia

Pigmenturia is when your pee turns a different color than usual. Sometimes it can be yellow, orange, brown, or even dark red. This happens because your body is getting rid of extra pigments that it doesn't need.

Now, let's pretend that your pee is like a big crayon box. Normally, your pee crayons are all different shades of yellow. But sometimes, your body gets extra crayons that it doesn't want. These extra crayons can be different colors, like red, brown, or orange. When your body gets rid of these extra crayons, your pee will turn a different color.

There are lots of things that can cause pigmenturia. Some common reasons are dehydration, certain medications, or eating foods like beets or rhubarb. Other times, it can be a sign of a more serious health problem.

If you notice that your pee looks different than usual, it's important to talk to a grown-up about it. They can help you figure out why it's happening and what you can do to make it go back to normal.
