ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pilot error

Pilot error means that a pilot has made a mistake or done something wrong while operating an airplane. Just like how sometimes you make mistakes while doing your homework or playing a game, pilots can also make mistakes while flying. These mistakes can be small and not cause harm, or they can be big and can be dangerous or even deadly.

One example of pilot error is when a pilot forgets to check that all the plane's engines are working properly before taking off. This can cause the plane to have difficulty or fail during the flight. Another example is when a pilot doesn't follow the instructions given by the control tower or doesn't pay attention to the instruments showing important information about the flight.

It's important for pilots to be well-trained and take their jobs seriously to avoid making these kinds of errors. That's why pilots go through a lot of training and are required to follow strict rules and regulations to make sure they operate airplanes safely for everyone on board.
