Pinkwashing (LGBT)
Do you know what the color pink looks like? It's a very pretty color, isn't it? But sometimes people use the color pink to make themselves look good or like they care about something, even if they don't really care. That's called "pinkwashing."
When it comes to LGBT people, sometimes companies or even governments will use the color pink or put rainbow flags everywhere during special events like pride to make it seem like they support LGBT people. But sometimes they don't really care about LGBT people or their rights – they just want to look good or make money.
It's like if someone said they would give you a really yummy candy, but then they didn't actually give it to you – they were just pretending to be nice. That's not fair or honest, right?
So it's important to make sure that when people say they support LGBT rights or are an "ally," they are really being truthful and doing things to help make life better for LGBT people.
