ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pipe bending

Pipe bending is when you take a long, straight pipe and curve it into a different shape.

Imagine you have a piece of spaghetti. It's long and thin, and you can hold it straight. But, what if you wanted to make a letter "U" out of the spaghetti? You can't just fold it, because it will break. Instead, you gently curve the spaghetti until it makes the shape you want.

This is what pipe bending is like. Instead of spaghetti, you have a long, thin pipe made out of metal or plastic. It can be used for things like plumbing, construction, or manufacturing.

To bend the pipe, you need to use a special tool called a pipe bender. It works kind of like a big, strong hand that can bend the pipe without breaking it. The pipe is placed inside the bender, and then we push down on it or rotate it around until it takes the shape we want.

There are different types of pipe benders for different types of pipes. Some work better for thin, flexible pipes, while others are best for thicker or more rigid pipes.

So, when you see a curved pipe in a building or a machine, it's because someone used a pipe bender to make it that way!
