Ok kiddo, have you ever seen a chicken lay an egg? Well, inside that egg there is a yolk and a white part. People can cook eggs in lots of different ways to make them taste yummy but today we are going to talk about poached eggs.
When you poach an egg, it means you cook it in boiling water without the shell. But we don't just throw the egg into the water and let it be, we have to be very careful. We want the egg to be round like a ball and not have the white part all over the place.
To do this, we get a pot of water and heat it up until it starts to bubble. Then, we crack the egg and put it in a small bowl. We pour the egg from the bowl into the pot of boiling water very slowly. Once it's in, we let it cook for a few minutes until the white part becomes solid but the yolk part is still a little bit runny.
After that, we take a big spoon with holes in it and scoop out the egg so that it doesn't stay in the boiling water. When we take it out, we put it on a plate and serve it right away. Then we can break open the egg with a fork and the yolk part will come out. It's really yummy and great for breakfast!
