ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pocket trumpet

A pocket trumpet is a smaller version of a regular trumpet. Imagine if you had a toy car that was smaller than your regular car - that's what a pocket trumpet is like compared to a normal trumpet.

But pocket trumpets still make music just like the big ones! They have a long tube that makes the sound when you blow into their mouthpiece and use your fingers to press down on little buttons called valves. The valves change the length of the tube, which makes the pitch of the sound higher or lower.

Pocket trumpets are also easier to carry around because they're smaller and lighter than regular trumpets. That's why they're called "pocket" trumpets - you can fit them in your pocket or backpack if you need to take them somewhere.

Even though pocket trumpets are smaller, they can still play all the same notes as a regular trumpet. They might sound a little different because they have a shorter tube, but they're still a lot of fun to play!
