ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Political corruption in the United States

Okay kiddo, so you know how in school there are rules that everyone has to follow to make things fair and honest? The people who make and enforce those rules are called teachers and they are like the government.

But sometimes, some students may try to cheat or break the rules, and even some teachers might break their own rules! This is like what some people in the government might do when they try to use their power for their own benefit instead of doing what is right for everyone.

When someone in the government does something wrong or illegal, like accepting money or gifts in exchange for making decisions that benefit some people but not others, that's called political corruption. It's like a teacher breaking the rules or cheating in school.

This is really bad because it's not fair for everyone and can harm the country as a whole. It can also make people lose trust in the government and its leaders, and that's not good for any of us.

So, it's important for the government and the people to work together to make sure that everyone follows the rules and does what's best for everyone, just like how we do in school to make sure that everyone has a fair chance to learn and succeed.
