Politics of New South Wales

Okay kiddo, let's start by talking about what politics is. Politics is all about making decisions that impact the way we live our lives. These decisions can be about things like education, healthcare, and the environment. And just like how we have rules at home that help keep things fair and our family happy, our government has rules and leaders that help make important decisions.

Now, New South Wales (NSW) is a state in Australia and it has its own government that makes decisions just for NSW. In NSW, there are different political parties that have different ideas and plans for the state. The two main parties are the Labor Party and the Liberal Party. Just like how you and your friends have different ideas about what games to play or what snacks to eat, these political parties have different ideas about how to run the state.

When there is an election, people in NSW get to vote for which party they want to lead the state. The party that gets the most votes becomes the government and their leader becomes the Premier, which is like the boss of the state.

The government in NSW makes decisions about lots of things like how much money to spend on schools and hospitals, how to help the environment, and how to keep people safe. They also make laws that people have to follow, like wearing a seatbelt in a car or not littering in the park.

Sometimes people don't agree with the decisions the government makes, and they might protest or write to their local member of parliament, which is like a representative for their area. The local member of parliament is there to listen to the concerns of the people they represent and to pass on those concerns to the government.

So that's a basic idea of the politics of New South Wales. It's all about making decisions that help keep the state running smoothly and making sure everyone is happy and safe.
