Pollination

Pollination is when plants make babies. Just like how mommies and daddies make babies, plants have their own way of making babies too. But instead of kissing or hugging, plants need the help of little creatures called pollinators to make their babies.

Here's how it works. Plants create tiny little things called pollen. It's like plant dust that comes from the male part of the plant. This pollen is very important because it carries the plant's genes, just like how your genes come from your mommy and daddy.

But in order for the pollen to create a baby, it needs to get to the female part of the plant. This is where the pollinators come in. Pollinators are little creatures like bees or butterflies. They visit the plants, and while they do, some of the pollen sticks to them. Then, when the pollinator flies to another plant, that pollen rubs off and lands on the female part of the new plant.

This is like planting seeds for a new baby plant. The pollen fertilizes the female part of the plant, and it starts to grow little baby plants! Isn't that cool?

So basically, pollination is how plants make babies, and pollinators like bees and butterflies help by carrying around the pollen to create new baby plants.
