Polygonal rifling

Okay kiddo, so when you shoot a gun, the bullet travels through the barrel of the gun. The inside of the barrel is normally smooth, but sometimes it has something called "polygonal rifling."

Rifling is when there are spiral grooves cut into the inside of the barrel that help the bullet spin as it travels through the gun. This spinning makes the bullet more stable and accurate when it is shot out of the gun.

Polygonal rifling is a type of rifling that looks a bit different than normal rifling. Instead of straight grooves, the grooves look like rounded polygons. Think about a circle with corners instead of a smooth circle.

People who like polygonal rifling say that it can make the gun more accurate, because the bullet doesn't get scraped as much as it would with normal rifling. Other people say that it can be harder to clean the barrel because the grooves are not as easy to see as normal rifling.

So that's polygonal rifling, just a different way of making grooves in a gun barrel to help your aim!
