ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Polyunsaturated fatty acid

Polyunsaturated fatty acids are things that our body needs to be healthy, like food for our insides. They are kind of like building blocks that help make our body and brain strong.

Polyunsaturated means that these fatty acids have many little spaces where other things can attach to them. Fatty acids are like a puzzle piece that our body uses to make bigger things like fat, which we do need a little bit of to be healthy, and hormones which help our body work correctly.

Some foods like fish, nuts, and seeds have a lot of these fatty acids in them. It's important to eat enough of these foods to make sure our body gets enough of these building blocks.
