Population ecology

Population ecology is the study of how populations of living things grow and shrink over time. It looks at how many of each type of living thing there are, where they live and how they interact with each other and their environment. It also looks at how the size and characteristics of a population can be affected by things like weather, disease, and predators. Population ecologists look at how populations change over time and how they affect the plants and animals around them. They look at how different populations can interact with each other, how they can compete for resources, and how human activities can change a population.
