ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Portuguese Surinamese

Okay kiddo, Portuguese Surinamese is a group of people who live in Suriname, a small country in South America. Suriname used to be a colony of Netherlands, and people from different parts of the world came to live there, including Portugal.

The Portuguese Surinamese are descendants of people from Portugal who came to Suriname a long time ago. They are part of the Surinamese population and have their own unique culture and traditions.

Just like how you have your own family traditions, the Portuguese Surinamese have their own too. They celebrate their own holidays, cook special foods, and dance to their own music.

Even though they have Portuguese ancestry, they also have influences from other cultures in Suriname, like the Native American and African cultures. This makes their culture very diverse and interesting.

So, Portuguese Surinamese people are just like you and me, except they have a different background and culture, which makes them special and unique in their own way.
