ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Possessive pronoun

A possessive pronoun is a special word that shows that something belongs to someone or something else. Think about it like owning a toy. If you have a toy car, you can say "that's my car." The word "my" is a possessive pronoun that shows that you own the car. Other examples of possessive pronouns are "his," "her," "its," "our," and "their." If you have a pet cat, you might say "that's his toy." The word "his" shows that the toy belongs to your cat. Possessive pronouns make it easier to talk about who owns something without having to repeat someone's name or use a long sentence.
