ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Possibilism (politics)

Alright kiddo, possibilism is like playing with Legos. You start with a certain set of blocks and you can create anything you want with them, but you can only use the blocks you have.

In politics, possibilism means that politicians have a certain set of resources and limitations available to them, and they have to use those to create policies and make decisions. It's not always possible to do everything they want to do - they can only use the tools they have.

For example, imagine you want to build a castle out of Legos, but you don't have any blue blocks. You could still build a castle, but it might not have a blue roof or blue pillars. In politics, politicians might want to create certain policies or laws, but they might not have enough support from other politicians or enough funding to make it happen. So they have to adjust their plans and work with what they have to achieve their goals.

Overall, possibilism is about recognizing limitations and working within them to achieve the best outcome possible. Similar to playing with Legos, you have to make do with what you have and be creative to build something great.
