Poverty in Australia

Ok kiddo, so poverty in Australia means that some people are not able to afford basic things that they need to live a happy and healthy life. These basic things are called “essentials”.

Essentials include things like food, water, shelter (a place to live), clothes to wear and access to healthcare. Some people in Australia do not have enough money to pay for these things, so they feel sad and stressed a lot of the time.

Poverty can happen to different types of people, like families with children, older people, or people with a disability. Poverty can happen if someone does not have a job, or if they do have a job but are not paid enough money to afford essentials.

The Australian government tries to help people who are living in poverty by giving them money through something called “welfare payments”. Welfare payments are like a special type of money that people can get if they need help.

There are also charities in Australia that help people who are living in poverty by giving them food, clothes and other things for free.

Overall, poverty in Australia is not a good thing and it’s important for everyone to try to help out in their own way so that everyone can have enough essentials to live a happy and healthy life!
