Power over Ethernet

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a way to provide electricity over a network cable. Instead of using two cables (one for data and one for power) you can use one cable to send both electricity and data. It works by having a special power source (like a PoE switch or an adapter) which sends the electricity through the cable. The device that needs power, like a computer or a camera, has a built-in "receiver" to get the electricity through the network cable.
