ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Power struggle

A power struggle is like when two kids want the same toy and neither of them wants to share it with the other. They might pull on the toy, push each other or even yell to try and get the toy for themselves. In the same way, when adults are in a power struggle, it means they both want to be in charge or have control over something. This can be in a family, at work or even in a whole country. They might argue or compete to see who gets to make the decisions or be the boss. It's not always easy to solve a power struggle because both people or groups want their own way, but it's important to try and listen to each other and find a fair compromise so everyone can be happy.
