Power vacuum

A power vacuum is what happens when one person or group that used to have a lot of power is removed from power suddenly and nobody else takes their place. Imagine a room with a really strong vacuum that sucks out all the air. That's like what happens when a lot of power is taken away suddenly. Everyone else in the room feels the difference, because suddenly there's no big or powerful person in charge, and nobody wants to fill that role. So there's a kind of empty space in the room, where the power used to be. That's a power vacuum.
