Prasat (Thai architecture)

Prasat is a type of building that is found in Thailand and is made in a special way called Thai architecture. Imagine if you were building a house out of blocks. You might stack the blocks on top of each other just like you would stack regular bricks. But Thai architecture uses special blocks that are shaped kind of like a Lego block. These blocks fit together in a special way so that they don't fall down.

Prasats are usually made in a square shape and have several levels that get smaller as you go higher up. If you have ever seen a wedding cake, it looks a lot like that! Prasats usually have lots of little details carved into them, which makes them very pretty to look at.

Prasats were built a long, long time ago (even before your grandparents were born!). They were often used as places to worship and pray. When people go inside, they might see a statue of a buddha or other religious figures. Sometimes, they might hear music or chanting.

Even though prasats are very old, people still build them today! They are an important part of Thailand's history and culture, and people are proud to keep these traditions alive.
