ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pre-advent judgment

Imagine you are playing a game with your friends, and at the end of the game, you need to see who got the most points. Before you start playing the game, you already know the rules, and you have an idea of how well you can do.

Similarly, God knows the rules of life, and He knows us very well. He knows what is good and what is bad, and He knows how we will behave in different situations. Before Jesus comes back to Earth for the second time, God looks at everything we have done in our lives, and He judges us based on our actions.

This is called the pre-advent judgment, which means that God is judging us before Jesus comes back. This judgment is important because it helps God decide who deserves to spend eternity with Him in heaven and who does not. It is like a final exam to see if we have followed the rules of life or not.

So, just like in a game, where you can see who won at the end, in life, we will all see who passed or failed the final exam when Jesus comes back. The pre-advent judgment helps us get ready for that final exam, and it helps us make good choices and follow God's rules so that we can pass the test and be with Him forever.
