ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Precalculus

Okay kiddo, precalculus is like a big puzzle, and it’s all about understanding how numbers fit together and how we can use them to solve problems.

You know how when you learn how to count, you start with 1, 2, 3, and then you move on to adding and subtracting? Precalculus is like the big version of that, where we learn about lots of different ways to use numbers to solve problems in things like algebra and geometry.

In precalculus, we learn about things called functions, which are basically like little machines that take in a number and give us back a different number. It’s like putting your toys in a toy box and then getting different toys out. And just like you have to be careful when playing with your toys, we have to be careful when using functions so we get the right answer.

We also learn a lot about shapes in precalculus, like triangles and circles. We use numbers to figure out the size and angles of these shapes, which helps us understand how they work and how we can use them in real life.

Overall, precalculus is like a big adventure where we get to explore how numbers and shapes all fit together, and how we can use them to solve cool problems.
