When a mommy fish and a daddy fish love each other very much, they can make baby fish. The mommy fish has eggs inside of her, and the daddy fish has something called sperm. The daddy fish lets out his sperm, and it goes inside the mommy fish to fertilize the eggs.
Once the eggs are fertilized, the mommy fish carries them inside of her body. Just like how a mommy human has a big belly when she's pregnant, the mommy fish's belly gets bigger too.
The eggs start to develop inside of the mommy fish, and eventually, they hatch into baby fish. When it's time for the baby fish to be born, the mommy fish releases them into the water.
Some fish lay their eggs in special nests they create called "nests" or "redds", while other fish carry their eggs in their mouth or attached to their body until they are ready to hatch.
Just like how humans need to take care of their babies when they're born, fish also need to take care of their babies. Some fish will stay with their babies to protect them and teach them how to survive, while other fish just leave their babies to fend for themselves.
