ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Preighter

A preighter is when a regular passenger airplane is used to carry only cargo instead of people. Normally, a passenger airplane has seats and space for people to sit, but when it is used as a preighter, those seats are removed or folded up so that the big open space can be used to carry packages, boxes or even vehicles.

This can be useful when there is a high demand for cargo transportation, but not enough dedicated cargo planes available. By using preighters, we can still transport goods while using existing airplanes that may not be able to fly passengers due to low demand.

It's like if your family was going on vacation in a big car, but they decided to take out all the seats and use the car just to carry all the luggage and camping gear instead. It's a way to use something you already have in a different way to help you get what you need to where it needs to go.
