ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Prenatal memory

Hey there little one, have you ever heard of prenatal memory? Well, let me explain it to you in a way that you can understand.

You know how babies grow inside their mommy's belly for nine months before they are born? During this time, they are surrounded by their mommy's voice, heartbeat, and other sounds that they can hear while in the womb.
Scientists have found out that babies can actually remember these sounds and sensations they experience before they are born. This is called prenatal memory.

Think of it like when you are sleeping, and you can still hear the sounds outside your room. Even though you are not awake, you can still remember the sounds that you heard when you wake up.

So, when a baby is born, they can recognize their mommy's voice and other familiar sounds because they remember them from when they were in the womb. How amazing is that!

Prenatal memory is still being studied by scientists, but it is an exciting discovery that helps us understand how babies develop and remember things from even before they are born.
