Presbyterian Church (USA) Carbon Neutral Resolution

Okay, imagine there is a big club, called the Presbyterian Church in the USA. They believe that taking care of the earth is very important, just like taking care of ourselves or our toys. So, they made a decision called a "carbon neutral resolution" which means they want to stop putting harmful stuff called "carbon emissions" into the air.

You know how when we ride in a car, we make the car go by burning gasoline? Well, burning gasoline or other things like coal, can make a lot of carbon emissions that make the air dirty and bad for people and animals. So, the Presbyterian Church wants to reduce how much they do that, so the air can be more clean and healthy.

To be carbon neutral, they have to figure out how much carbon emissions they are making, and then find ways to remove or reduce them. This is kind of like when we make a mess with our toys, and then we have to pick them back up to make our room clean again. They might do things like using renewable energy like solar power, riding bikes or public transportation instead of driving cars, and planting more trees. Trees are really good friends of the earth because they help soak up carbon emissions.

The Presbyterian Church wants to be good stewards of the earth, which means they want to take care of it like it belongs to everyone, and not just themselves. They hope that other people and organizations will also start making choices that help the earth too.
