James K. Polk was the 11th President of the United States. He was president from 1845 to 1849. He was a Democratic president and he wanted to accomplish a lot in his 4 years in office. He was the first president to have a plan to get things done and wanted to follow a strict timeline. He wanted to add Texas to the United States, settle a boundary dispute with Great Britain, and increase US trade with other countries. To do this, he had to negotiate with other countries, sign laws, and work with Congress to get things done. President Polk accomplished all of his goals in just four years, making him one of the most successful presidents ever.
