Presidential memorandum

Okay kiddo, so you know how the President of the United States is in charge of the country and makes important decisions? Well, sometimes the President wants to tell government agencies, like the Department of Defense or the Environmental Protection Agency, what to do. But he can’t just give them orders like you might tell your little brother what to do. That’s where a “presidential memorandum” comes in!

A presidential memorandum is like a special note that the President writes to people who work for him. He might say something like, “Hey, I want you to pay more attention to how we use our national parks to protect animals,” or “I think you need to work harder to keep secrets about our military plans.” When the President writes a memo like this, he’s making it clear what he wants people in the government to do, and they’re supposed to listen.

One important thing to remember is that a presidential memorandum isn’t a law. That means that if the President wants something to be a real rule that everyone has to follow, he’ll have to work with the people in Congress to make it happen! But when the President writes a memo, it’s a way for him to get things moving in the right direction and make sure his ideas get across. So there you have it – the presidential memorandum!
