Prevention of traumatic brain injury

A traumatic brain injury happens when your head gets hit really hard, like when you fall down, get tackled in a sport, or are in a car accident. This can hurt your brain and make it hard for you to think and do things like you usually do.

Preventing a traumatic brain injury means doing things to protect your brain from getting hurt. Some ways to do this include:

1. Wearing a helmet: When you ride a bike, skateboard, or use anything with wheels, it's important to wear a helmet. A helmet goes on your head and helps protect it from getting hurt if you fall down.

2. Buckling your seat belt: When you ride in a car, it's important to always wear your seat belt. A seat belt keeps you in your seat if there's an accident so you don't hit your head on anything.

3. Using safety equipment: If you play a sport, it's important to wear equipment that helps protect your head. For example, if you play football, you should wear a helmet and if you play soccer, you should wear shin guards.

4. Being aware: When you're doing something that could be dangerous, like climbing on something really high, it's important to be aware of what's around you and be careful. If you feel like you're in danger, ask an adult for help or stop doing it.

Doing these things can help keep your brain safe from getting hurt and make sure you can keep learning, playing, and having fun!
