ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Price of stability

When we want to play together, we need rules to make sure everyone has fun and no one gets hurt. And when we play games, like hide and seek or tag, we also need rules to make sure we play fair and have fun too.

Now, imagine there's a game where we have to build a tower with blocks. Everyone wants to build the tallest tower, but we have to follow some rules to make sure the tower is stable and won't fall down. These rules are called the "Price of Stability."

The Price of Stability means that sometimes we have to give up some things to make sure the tower is strong and stable. For example, we might have to use more blocks or build the tower a little bit wider than we would like, but this will make the tower stronger and less likely to fall down.

In other words, we might have to pay a price to make sure the tower stays stable and doesn't fall down. But in the end, we'll all have a lot more fun playing the game if the tower is stable and we can keep building higher and higher!
