ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Principle of deferred decision

Okay kiddo, imagine you have a cookie and you want to eat it right away. But your parents tell you that you have to wait until after dinner. That's called the principle of deferred decision.

It means sometimes you have to wait before you make a decision or do something, even if you really want to do it right now. You might need to wait until you have more information, or until you're in a better position to make a good choice.

This principle is important because it helps us to make better decisions in the long run, even if it means we have to be patient in the short term. So remember, sometimes it's best to delay a decision until you have the information and experience you need to make a good choice.
