ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Private Media Group

Okay kiddo, have you ever watched a TV show or listened to the radio station? Well, when those programs or stations are owned by a company or a group of people, we call them a private media group.

It's like when you have a toy that only belongs to you and your family, and you can decide who can play with it or not. The private media group can decide what shows or music they want to make, and who they want to hire to work for them.

Sometimes, these private media groups are really big, like Disney or Viacom. They have lots of channels and make lots of shows and movies. Other times, they might be smaller and just own one TV station or radio station.

The important thing to remember is that these private media groups have the power to choose what we watch or listen to, and they can control what information we get. So, it's always a good idea to think critically about the media we consume and make sure we're getting a variety of different perspectives.
