ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Private carrier

Hi there, little buddy!

A private carrier is like having your own private delivery person who brings things directly to you. Let's say you ordered a toy from a store and you wanted it delivered to your house. The private carrier would pick up the toy from the store and bring it straight to your house.

Now, sometimes companies need to send things to other companies or people, and they might use a private carrier to do this. Instead of sending the toy directly to you, the store might use a private carrier to send it to another store that sells the toy, or to a warehouse where other toys are kept. Then, someone else might use a different private carrier to bring it to your house.

The reason that companies might use private carriers instead of the regular mail or public delivery services is that they can choose when to send things and where they should go. They can also track the packages better, which means they can make sure the toy gets to the right place and doesn't get lost along the way.

So, that's what a private carrier is, little buddy! It's like having your own delivery person who brings things straight to you, or helping companies send things to where they need to go.
