Proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy
Once upon a time, a long long time ago in the year 1861, a group of people in Italy wanted to bring all of the separate kingdoms and regions together to make one big country. They called this new country the Kingdom of Italy.
When they finally got all of the kings, queens and leaders of the different regions to agree to join together, they made a very special announcement to the people of Italy. This announcement was called the Proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy.
The proclamation was like a big party invitation, but instead of saying "Come to my party", it said "We are now one big country and everyone is invited to be a part of it!". The leaders who made this grand announcement wanted everyone to know that they were now all part of one big family, with one big king to lead them all.
The people of Italy were very happy and excited to be part of this new country, and they celebrated with lots of parades, fireworks and parties. And that's the story of how the Kingdom of Italy was born!
