ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Product classification

Okay kiddo, imagine you have a lot of toys in your room. Some are big, some are small, and some are for playing outside. Just like your toys, products also come in different shapes and sizes. To make it easier to understand and sell these products, they are put into groups based on their characteristics. This is called product classification.

For example, all cars are put into a category called "automobiles". In this category, there are different types of cars like sedans, trucks, and SUVs. Each of these types has its own characteristics like how big it is or how many doors it has.

Products can also be classified by what they are made of. For example, things like clothes and furniture are made of different materials. Clothes can be made of cotton or wool, while furniture can be made of wood or metal.

By putting products into categories, it helps companies understand how to market them and make sure they are sold to the right people. It also helps customers find what they are looking for more easily.

So, product classification is like sorting all your toys into different boxes based on their size, type, and material to make it easier to find and play with them later.
