ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Profile (engineering)

Okay kiddo, a profile in engineering is like a special drawing or map of something we want to make. It helps us see what the thing will look like from the side, from the top, and from all around.

Imagine you want to make a toy car. You would draw a profile to show what the car should look like. You would draw the wheels in circles, the body of the car in a rectangle shape, and the windshield in a diagonal line. This way, you can see exactly what the car will look like and make sure it's the right size and shape.

Engineers use profiles for all sorts of things, like buildings and bridges. They draw profiles to make sure the things they build will be safe and strong. It's like making a plan before you start building something, so you know exactly what you need to do.

Does that make sense, kiddo?
