Prometheus in popular culture

Okay kiddo, so Prometheus is a character from ancient Greek mythology. He was a human who was punished by the gods because he stole fire from them and gave it to humans. Fire was really important because it could keep people warm and help them cook food, but the gods didn't want humans to have it.

Nowadays, people still talk about Prometheus because he represents rebellion against authority and the idea of stealing knowledge or power from those who have it. He's featured in movies, books, and TV shows where he's often portrayed as a hero who fights against oppression.

For example, in the movie "Prometheus", a group of explorers go to a distant planet to search for the origin of humanity. They find out that an ancient alien race had created humans and that the planet is actually a weapon of mass destruction. The main character, a woman named Elizabeth Shaw, has to fight against the aliens and their technology to save humanity and gain new knowledge.

In other stories, Prometheus is seen as a villain who's punished for his arrogance or greed. But in general, he's a symbol of defiance and the idea that humans can overcome even the most powerful forces in the universe.
