ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Proof by construction

Proof by construction is a way of proving something is true by showing you can make it yourself. It's like building a lego set to prove you can follow the instructions and make a cool spaceship.

For example, if we want to prove that it's possible to draw a square with sides of equal length of 6 cm, we can use proof by construction. We can simply take a ruler and draw 6 cm lines, and connect the ends to form a square. By physically creating the square, we have proven that it is possible to draw a square with sides of equal length of 6 cm.

The same process can be used for more complex problems, like proving that it's possible to construct a triangle with sides of 3 cm, 4 cm, and 5 cm. By physically constructing the triangle with those specific measurements, we have proven that it is possible to do so.

Proof by construction is a powerful tool because it shows that something is not only possible, but also practical and achievable. It helps us to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the underlying principles and concepts that govern the world around us.
