Prosecution

Okay, so you know how sometimes people do bad things and it's not okay? Well, when someone does something that is against the law, the government might decide to try to punish them for it. This is called prosecution.

Prosecution involves a lot of people working together to try to make sure that the person who did the bad thing is held accountable for it.

First, there are police officers who investigate what happened and gather evidence. They might take pictures, talk to witnesses, or search for clues to try to figure out what really happened.

Then, there are lawyers who work for the government and help decide whether there is enough evidence to show that someone really did the bad thing. If they think there is enough evidence, they might charge the person with a crime.

Next, there is a trial where the person who is accused of doing the bad thing gets a chance to defend themselves. This is where a judge and jury decide if the person really did the bad thing and if they should be punished for it.

If the person is found guilty, they might have to go to jail or pay a fine. The punishment depends on how serious the bad thing was that they did.

So, prosecution is basically when the government tries to hold someone accountable for doing something wrong and make sure they get punished for it.
