Proteasome

Okay kiddo, imagine your body is like a big playground full of toys. Sometimes, toys get broken or old, and you don't want to play with them anymore. So what do you do? You usually throw them in the trash, right? Well, in your body, there are tiny machines called proteasomes that act like the trash cans of your cells.

These proteasomes are made up of lots of tiny parts called proteins, and they're responsible for breaking down old and damaged proteins in your body. Their job is to chop the proteins into very small pieces called peptides. Just like how you break up a big cookie into little crumbs!

Why are these proteasomes so important? Well, if they didn't clean up your cells, the old and damaged proteins could cause problems. Just like if you left broken toys lying around the playground, someone could trip on them and get hurt. They can also cause diseases like cancer, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

So, proteasomes are like the trash cans that keep your body clean and healthy!
