ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Provisioning (telecommunications)

Provisioning in telecommunications means setting up your phone or internet service so that it works properly. Think of it like getting your favorite toy ready to play with. You need to put batteries in it, make sure it's turned on, and maybe even download some games or music. Provisoning is like doing all that stuff for your phone or internet service.

When you sign up for phone or internet service, the company you're working with will need to do some provisioning to get everything set up. They'll make sure your account is active, set up your phone number or email address, and make sure you can connect to the internet. Sometimes they'll even send you a special device, like a router or modem, to help you connect.

Provisioning is really important because it makes sure that your phone or internet service is working properly. If something isn't set up right, you might not be able to make phone calls or surf the web like you want to. So, the people who do provisioning always take their time and make sure everything is just right.

When you get your phone or internet service set up, make sure to ask the person helping you any questions you might have. They'll be happy to explain things in a way that makes sense to you!
