Public-private partnerships in the United States

Public-private partnerships (PPP) are when the government (the public) works together with companies or organizations (the private) to do something. It's kind of like how you might work on a group project with your classmates in school, but instead of just working with other students, the government is working with businesses or groups.

For example, let's say the government wants to build a new park in your town. They might partner with a private company that can design and build the park. The government might provide some money to help pay for the project, and the private company would do the actual work of building.

Another example would be if your school wanted to provide every student with a computer to use for their classes. They might partner with a private computer company to provide the computers. The company would sell the computers to the school, but the school would use some public money to pay for them.

PPP can be used for lots of different things, like building roads, bridges, and buildings, or providing services like healthcare or education. The idea is that by working together, the government and private companies can get things done more efficiently and effectively than if they worked alone.
