Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of a puffball? They look like big balls that can be found outside in fields or forests.
Now, these puffballs are actually mushrooms. They’re called puffballs because when they’re older and ripen, they release a cloud of spores when they’re bumped or stepped on.
But, since you’re only five, it’s important to remember that not all mushrooms are safe to eat. Some puffballs are edible and some can make you sick or even worse. So it's best to never eat any mushrooms you find without an adult that knows which ones are safe.
That’s pretty much a puffball in a nutshell. They’re just big mushrooms that can puff out a cloud of spores when they’re fully grown.
